SA Fashion week for Spring Summer 16 took place at Hyde park corner the past week and for the first time the show lasted for 5 days. The showcased collections were from local designers like Johan-Gert Coetzee, David Tlale, Khosi Nkosi, Urban Zulu, Liz Ogumbo and many others. The continued celebration of African designs and the beautiful prints is what makes SA Fashion week unique and all fashion showcases around Africa. Conversely, the African prints and designs are appreciated by the world at large. Here are my favorite picks from the event and a summary of what was showcased.
Design by urban Zulu.
Designs from day 3
Beautiful dress by Liz
Urban Zulu, gorgeous
Urban Zulu, Love everything about it
The one design that really moved me was the ripped shirt from Edgars collection. The black shirt represented the hurt of abuse and campaigned break the silence movement for rape victims.
Besides favorite designs from the show, here are some of the spotted pictures of fashionistas who attended.
From left to right: Thuli, definitely in love with the jumpsuit and the colour, Thando Thabethe and FiFi Cooper
My favorite look, dress, hair makeup, she’s winning. The beautiful Lerato.
Palesa Mahlaba True love mag fashion editor (red hair) and friend
The beautiful Ayanda Thabethe
The audience are always given an opportunity to shop and this season’s spot was creatively impressive!
The shopping space also provided accessories and here are my favorite picks
Xhosa inspired Pichulik
There is no fashion show without the use of favorite makeup brands on models and the #SAFW S/S 16 partnered with Rimmel London and the two blended like a beautiful art work.
Look for JJ Schoeman’s collection
Liz Ogumbo’s beauty look
